Jen has been in the veterinary profession for over 20 years managing veterinary clinics and being a technician, and joined the PMCU team in 2024. She has had a love for animals since she was a kid and wanted to grow up to be a veterinarian. In 2002 she graduated from Iowa State University in Animal Science and decided to enter the field leading practice teams instead of becoming a doctor. In her free time she enjoys gardening as a Polk Co Master Gardener and using her creative side for crafting and DIY projects. She has 4 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and 2 cats at home.
Brooke has a love for animals that began at a young age. She grew up with cats and dogs at home and her first cat she got in kindergarten lived to be 23! Before joining the veterinary industry at PMCU 2 years ago she received her degree from UNI in Leisure, Youth and Human Services and worked in mental health with the homeless for 12 years. She is working toward her veterinary technician certification and when she's not at work she is loving on her rescue pup, Lulu.
Nikki was working as a stay at home mom when she started to having the urge a couple years ago to get back into the work force, and one day her daughter, Annika, mentioned there was a need for extra hands at the clinic, and the rest is history! She fills in anywhere she can to help in any way to make sure all of our clients and patients are taken care of but you can usually find her smiling face greeting you from behind the front desk. Her family has 2 dogs and 3 cats that keep them busy.
Becca joined the team as a CSR in 2024. She has always had a passion for animals, starting with owning her first kitten in Kindergarten to riding horses since the age of eight, along with owning cats and dogs throughout her life. She has worked several animal related jobs before ending up at Pet Medical Center of Urbandale. She graduated from DMACC with her Associates of Arts Degree in 2017 as well as graduating with a Career Diploma in Graphic Design from Ashworth College in 2020. She is currently working towards becoming certified as a Veterinary Technician as well as working on
certification as a Companion Animal Therapist (CCAT). Her goal is to get her VTS in rehabilitation. She volunteers with the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Rhythms of Grace Equine Therapy Equestrian Center, and at Arizona's Yuma Proving Ground's army base as a vet assistant. Misty is her kitten that keeps her company at home.
Kinzie has always had a passion for animals and animal care. She worked multiple animal related jobs through school before heading to college. She attended Simpson College for 2 years for Vocal Music before realizing her place was in veterinary medicine. She has worked for PMCU for a combined 3 years, starting with kennels in high school and working up to a veterinary assistant. Tatum, Michael and Grim are her 3 cats that keep her company at home.
Kari graduated from the University of Iowa in 2023, receiving her degree in Multidisciplinary Science and Dance and started working for PMCU the summer of 2023. Her childhood family Schnauzer taught her about the undeniable bond between owners and their pets leading her to the field of veterinary medicine. She is loved by an exuberant golden retriever and spoils her to death! In her free time, you can find her watching her boyfriend pitch in baseball games or doing Pilates.
Abby is currently studying Biology at DMACC and has been working at PMCU since 2022 while attending school. She grew up with pets in the house which developed her love for animals! Getting to meet all of the wonderful patients that come through our doors is what she enjoys the most. Her family has 7 dogs but finally also has an Australian Shepherd of her very own!
Abby's passion is in grooming but she has enjoyed working part-time at the clinic learning the medical side of the industry since 2023. She has 2 standard poodles and a toy poodle that keep her busy when she is not working or putting together puzzles.
Alli has been working part-time for the past year while attending Drake University studying Zoo and Conservation Science. She grew up with Basset Hounds in her family and while she enjoys working with domestic cats here at the clinic her dream is to work at a large cat sanctuary. She has a family cat living at home with her mom and while she really wants to bring a dog into her life she is waiting until she graduates next May!
Annika has been working part-time at PMCU since 2020 while attending Iowa State University. She received her degree in Animal Science in 2023 and is now pursuing a Master's degree before applying to vet school. As part of her research she is involved with looking into the behaviors of shelter dogs and how to keep them from being returned to the shelter. Her favorite part of working in the clinic is the relationships she has made with clients and patients. Her study partners are her Bulldog and rescue kitty.
