Dr. Kristin De Vries grew up raising, training and showing horses near Norwalk. She also enjoyed a variety of family pets including many cats and dogs. During this time she began working at local veterinary clinics and after filling the rolls of just about every position in the clinic she decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine at a Veterinarian. She graduated from Simpson College with a BA in Biology and minor in Chemistry, and then graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Upon graduation Dr. De Vries practiced at several metro clinics and offered relief veterinarian services. After working as an associate veterinarian for so many years, she was excited for the opportunity to become a practice owner at Pet Medical Center of Urbandale in 2014.
In her free time Dr. De Vries enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and Greyhounds. She is a talented musician singing frequently with a ladies ensemble and with her church choir. She is also an avid hockey fan, and you will likely see her at Des Moines Buccaneers and Iowa Wild games.
Dr. De Vries enjoys small animal medicine and surgery and has studied advanced dentistry techniques. She has a passion for integrative medicine and has successfully managed a variety of ailments with dietary therapy, supplements and essential oil options. Dr. De Vries strives to provide compassionate care and creativity to tailor treatments to the needs of each of her patients and clients. She welcomes you to stop by and meet everyone at Pet Medical Center of Urbandale.

Dr. Klavins has had a joy for animals since a young age. She has always known that the veterinary field has been her calling. She graduated from Central College with her degree in Biology. She first joined the PMCU team in 2020 where she started working as an assistant prior to starting veterinary school. She continued working throughout vet school when time allowed. Dr. Klavins graduated with her DVM from Iowa State University in May of 2024 and rejoined the clinic as a Veterinarian.
Dr. Klavins is most passionate about the human animal bond. She has special interests in dermatology, surgery, and feline medicine. In her free time she enjoys running, biking and traveling. At home, her beloved pets Emmy, Beau, and Duke keep her company.

Dr. Christy Wauhob will be joining PMCU in July 2026! She grew up in Sioux City, Iowa and completed her undergraduate studies at Morningside University and University of Central Oklahoma. She graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. Her professional interests include oncology and internal medicine.
Dr. Wauhob wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. She enjoys building relationships with clients, and she loves following a patient through their life story. Dr, Wauhob provides quality and compassionate healthcare that is tailored to each individual patient and client. By staying actively involved in a patient’s well-being, she is able to strengthen the bond between our clients and their furry family members. She is very grateful to have followed her childhood dream into a fulfilling career.
Dr. Wauhob and her husband, Larry, enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren. She frequently travels to Sioux City to visit extended family and friends. In her free time, she likes to go shopping and enjoys nature walks. She has two granddogs – Lucy, a rescue Shih Tzu, and Benelli, a Labrador Retriever.
